DWA Aluminum Composites celebrates its 37th anniversary in 2011 as one of the only companies in the world not only dedicated to the development of powder metallurgy based Aluminum Metal-Matrix-Composites (Al MMCs) but operating a fully equipped, serial production manufacturing facility that satisfies a growing number of demanding aerospace and defense applications.
Any celebration of DWA’s accomplishments must also acknowledge the growing importance of niche materials to the aerospace and defense industries and our end-users willingness to make long-term commitments to new materials technologies.
In fact, because of DWA’s commitment to Al MMC technology development and our customer’s commitment to DWA, today almost every program manager and development engineer in the aerospace industry is considering Al MMCs as a potential design solution for their most challenging requirements. This growing awareness represents a significant shift for Al MMC materials in general. No longer are they considered a material only for solving existing problems, but a viable “day one” choice for the design of new systems.
